Dear Members & Friends-

In lieu of this month's meeting we will have our annual Christmas party at Highland Court apartments; 1720 Richmond Drive at 6:30 on December 20. If you need directions, call Buddy at 458-0233 or David at 589-6620.

January's meeting will be held at Frazier Rehab; 6:30; 4th floor dining hall.

Dear Members & Friends-

This moth's meeting will not have a speaker. Instead, we will watch a video and have pizza and soft drinks. The video will talk about life after a spinal cord injury. Subjects include transferring, relationships, adapting, family viewpoints, and other areas of interest. Please come out and join us for what should be an informative evening.

November's meeting will be held at Frazier Rehab, 4th floor dining room. Social hour: 6:30; speaker at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments provided.

I would like to thank everyone for their support and attendance at this year's picnic. It was a wonderful turnout, as well as a beautiful day, and I believe a good time was had by all. I would particularly like to thank Tom and Cheryl Stokes for all their hard work in preparing the wonderful meal, and helping to decorate the dining hall. Their continued support and loyalty is what helps make our chapter a success. I would also like to thank Betty Mudd and her family for all their help in securing our door prizes and raising money for the picnic, and their general support of the chapter. Lastly, I would like to thank Betty Perry and Michael Feger for working the table at the door and taking the money for the food as well as the chances on the raffle. Thanks for your continuing efforts in fundraising for the chapter.

Dear Members & Friends-

In lieu of this month's regularly scheduled meeting, we will have our annual picnic at Camp Crooked Creek on September 26 at 12:30 in the afternoon. We will eat at 2:00 p.m.

Dear Members & Friends-

At this month's meeting, August 16 at 6:30, we will have a speaker from Paws with Purpose. They are a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing professionally trained, highly skilled service dogs.

Pizza and soft drinks will be provided.

September's meeting will be held at Frazier Rehab, 4th floor dining room. Social hour: 6:30; speaker at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments provided.

In lieu of this month’s meeting we will have our annual dinner at Kingfish River Road in Louisville on June 21 at 6:30. Meals will be paid for by the Chapter for all of those who are current dues-paying members. Hope to see you there!

Dear Members & Friends-
       
Our speaker this month will be Pam Person. She is a nurse specializing in wound care. She will be discussing new methods to treat pressure ulcers and additionally will give helpful information in how to prevent pressure ulcers. Skin care is an important factor for all injuries ; new or old. A skin break down can keep you out of commission for weeks, months, or even over a year. So please come and listen to what is sure to be a very informative discussion.

June’s meeting will be held at Kingfish Restaurant on River Road and Zorn at 6:00 p.m.

Dear Members & Friends-
       
      Our speaker this month will be Jenny Smith from The Mobility Project. She will discuss how this organization provides wheelchairs and other durable medical equipment for predominantly third world countries. Jenny has traveled to Mexico, Afghanistan, and other countries. She will be going back to Afghanistan in the near future.  She will talk about her experiences with accessibility issues in foreign countries and what type of impact her donations make to those disabled citizens in other parts of the world. 

      May’s meeting will be held at Frazier Rehab, 4th floor activity room. Social hour: 6:30; speaker at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments provided.

» FEBRUARY 2004 Newsletter

Dear Members & Friends-

Our speaker this month will be Chase Forrester. He will talk about KATS Network, which deals with adaptive technical devices for people with disabilities. There are a lot of new innovative items out there that you may not be aware of that could increase your quality of life. He will also briefly discuss the Kentucky Disability Coalition and what its mission is. He will have some very helpful handouts as well, so come join us for what should be an interesting and informative talk.

The following officers were voted in when elections were held at last month's meeting:
president, David Allgood; Vice President, Adam Ford; Treasurer, Tom Stokes; Secretary, Michael Feger, Member at Large, Mike Perry, Member at Large, Kelly Young.
