About The Mobility Project

Throughout the world, there are tens of millions of people with various handicaps who cannot afford the basic equipment needed to obtain mobility, and thus to participate as active members of their communities.

The causes of these disabilities are varied: disease, war, land mines, accidents. In many cases, they are the members of loving families... but families who are simply too poor to afford the needed equipment. In many developing -- or "third world" -- countries, a simple wheelchair can cost as much as three year's salary. This is why The Mobility Project came into being. The Mobility Project exists to serve disabled people living in poverty throughout the developing nations of the world.

We do this in a variety of ways. Here are just a few:
  • By personally delivering refurbished mobility aids such as wheelchairs, crutches, walkers and other medical equipment to the disabled in need.
  • By adjusting each mobility aid given to fit the individual who receives it.
  • By providing sports programs for the disabled, to help them achieve greater confidence and health as well as ability with their mobility equipment.
  • By building wheelchair refurbishing and manufacturing facilities in some of the countries where we work, to provide vocational training for local people with disabilities, as well as an ongoing source for repairs to mobility aids to other disabled people in the area.

The Mobility Project is a non-profit humanitarian organization, committed to serving people with disabilities who have a wealth of unique gifts to offer their community, but have been hindered from doing so by poverty and the resulting lack of even the most basic mobility aids.

But more importantly, we are a group of individuals who all share a common passion. And we exist to serve individuals... valuable wonderful individuals with a bright hope and a future! We would love for you to meet them, and us!
